The Vision

The Belle District is the latest addition to a growing number of innovative and exciting initiatives underway in Nampa. Situated at the central hub of the designated historic area of downtown Nampa, the Belle District is conveniently located on 13th Avenue South between 1st and 2nd Street South. This is where the city was born, where the founders of Nampa lived, worked and shopped, and it was here, in the heart of the community, where locals gathered on a daily basis. Over time, as the city began to grow and spread, downtown Nampa lost much of its vibrancy. Through unregulated development and a lack of comprehensive planning, businesses dispersed throughout Nampa’s suburban landscape, resulting in a loss of core downtown retail businesses along with its important role as a central gathering point. The Belle District originated from the vision that speaks to renew the heart of the community and bring back the history of downtown Nampa, a place where people can live, work, shop, eat and enjoy community together.

Nampa’s recent population rise and the influx of new families provides a captive market eager for convenient and pleasant shopping, employment and entertainment opportunities near where they live. As many small and large cities throughout the United States have realized already, these historic downtowns offer tremendous opportunities for community revitalization and the creation of thriving retail, commercial, residential and civic spaces in a centralized location. The Belle District is uniquely situated to address this growing need, providing a mix of established core retail businesses with an influx of new commercial and retail space, as well as revitalized urban residential environments. The Belle District provides an opportunity for business to be part of an area that is rich in character and history and experiencing unprecedented growth.

At the core of this development is a belief that through following the practices of sustainable development and historic preservation, the Belle District can create a unique environment that will serve as a catalyst for future projects within the historic core. Already, two buildings are scheduled for renovation utilizing the latest practices in low impact construction, creative architecture, and LEED EB (existing buildings) standards in order to minimize environmental impact, maintain affordability and improve functionality.
